Mark your calendars for Jazzmania 2017, the annual fall jazz party and fundraiser. The event will again be held this year in Liberty Hall at The Factory in Franklin and will happen Saturday, October 14, from 6:00 to 10:00 pm.
Jazzmania is the Jazz Party of the Year with great live jazz from some of the city's finest musicians.
This year's featured artist is the world-class saxophonist Kirk Whalum!
Kirk is a former Board member and teacher at the Jazz Workshop, and a world-wide ambassador for jazz. He'll be returning to Nashville for this special one-time performance!
Join us as a Sponsor, Table Host, or Patron to support the work of the NJW throughout the year, bringing world-class jazz education and performance to people of all ages throughout the community. Supporters at this level are invited to a special Jazzmania Patron Party on Saturday, September 9.
The event includes a live and silent auction, with unique and desirable items such as vacation packages, tickets to top events, special dinner packages, in-home concerts, and the "Small Works" collection of artwork by some the area's top artists. This year's auction will be online before and during the event. This means that anyone, anywhere in the world, can bid!
For the second year in a row, the Jazzmania auction will feature mobile bidding, which means patrons can bid on auction items right on their smart phones (if you don't have one don't worry -- we've got helpers for you).
A highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the NJW Heritage Award, presented annually to a person who has made major contributions to the jazz community over an extended period of time.
Congratulations to 2016's Heritage Award winner, Chester Thompson. The audience listened raptly to video tributes from many of Chester's friends and colleagues from all over the world. In the words of former NJW Board member Kirk Whalum, "Chester sets the standard."
