Drummers of Motown

For this session on “The Drummers of Motown”, I have chosen one song, that was played by each of the big three drummers’ to be preformed by each session participant;
1) Benny Benjamin – ‘You Better Shop Around’ (Smokey Robinson and The Miracles),
 2) Richard ‘Pistol Allen – ‘How Sweet It Is’ – Marvin Gaye
3) Uriel Jones – ‘I Heard It Through The Grapevine’ (Gladys Knight and The Pips)
The purpose here is to observe the simplicity of their approach and the ‘feel’ that they bring to each song. The challenge will be to replicate the simplicity and ‘feel’ as close as possible.
Each participant will perform before the other class members and time will be taken for critique and observation.
Karaoke versions will be for the class, but listening to and comparing the original to the copy is strongly suggested.
