A class covering the ins and outs of the Hammond Organ. Starting with a brief history of the instrument and how the instrument got into jazz and blues, the class offers in-depth instruction on using the drawbars, the playing touch (different than piano), use of the expression pedal, the difference between a Leslie speaker and ‘straight’ ones, discussion of Hammond ‘clones.’ Also addressed is left hand bass and the bass pedals. The class is primarily directed to pianists who want to know how play the Hammond.
