Scholarship Lessons Program
Announcing the Nashville Jazz Workshop Scholarship Lessons Program
Are you a Middle Tennessee student aged 13 - 18 who is serious about music, but has trouble affording extracurricular music activities? Then the Nashville Jazz Workshop Scholarship Lessons Program is for you! This curriculum provides students with music fundamentals on their instrument/voice, advanced studies in their musical area of interest, and mentorship from Nashville's world-class working musicians. A musical plan devised specifically for each student including professional development meetings, a recital planned with instructor, and of course regularly scheduled private lessons - all with a full scholarship attached!
The Scholarship Lessons Program is continuing with the Winter/Spring semester of 2015. To apply, students must complete the application (which you can download from the link below), provide a letter of recommendation from their band/choir director or music teacher, and submit a two-page essay addressing both of the following questions: "What experience or experiences led to your decision to pursue music as a profession? What role does jazz play in your ultimate professional goals?"
All application materials must be received at the Nashville Jazz Workshop by Monday February 16. Please mail all materials together and mark "Scholarship Lessons" on the back of the mailing envelope. Qualified students with completed applications will be contacted with audition times to be arranged individually. At the audition, students should have a piece of music prepared to play - jazz tunes are preferred but not required.
If you have any questions about the program, please contact Evan Cobb by email -- firstname.lastname@example.org or call 615.242.JAZZ.
