The Righteous Few Brass Band…Who Dat????
Keeping that low end rumbling, Scott “Monster Truck” Hearn will be playing the big metal bass – the anchor of any brass band – the sousaphone. Crowning the front line you’ll find trumpeter Gary “Bo” Clayton – whose solos bring a unique blend of witty suspense and a lawless, renegade streak! Add to that the rich, velour funkiness of Jordan Morack on the sax. Warning: be prepared to take cover from the “go-get-it” trombone of Jarrett Allen! And who’s in the rhythm section?? You’ll be glad you asked. Charles Treadway will man the jazz organ, keeping the night soulful and being sure no good grease goes to waste! Add to that some cowbell, conga and percussion by Giovanni “G” Rodriguez! Finally, holding down the groove on the drums, you’ll be in the capable hands of none other than the legendary professor of the groove Thomas Spann!
Expect the music to come at you from many directions as Roland’s influences with this band include the sounds of Duke, Pops, Herbie, Preservation Hall, Joe Williams, Ray Charles and Bill Withers! RFBB’s music will flirt with all facets of the New Orleans Brass Band Tradition – from vintage grooves and gospel traditionals to the raw and visceral edge of today’s leading NOLA voices (Trombone Shorty, Rebirth, etc). Bring your dancing shoes and let’s see you try to keep your seat! Be there!
This will be a party to remember!
