Jam Session: August 2022

Not your average jam session

We’re excited to bring back the Nashville Jazz Workshop jam session with a fun new twist! This is a curated jam session for musicians of all levels, beginner to pro. Each month we will post a list of compositions to be performed at the jam session. Performers will sign up at the venue for specific tunes.

This is not a typical jam session “performance” – there will be the option to stop, restart, discuss, and consider intros, endings, and stylistic choices.

It takes place Sunday, August 7th, from 5-7 pm, in the Jazz Cave. The new NJW jam sessions will be hosted by Monica Shriver and Chris West with house band, Elijah D. Holt (drums), Chris Autry (bass), and Will Padgett (piano). Doors at 4:30.

August Jam Session Tunes:

Sonnymoon for Two
There is No Greater Love
My One and Only Love
Fly Me to the Moon
Perdido
Little Sunflower
Road Song
Days of Wine and Roses
It Don’t Mean a Thing
Softly as in a Morning Sunrise

The new NJW Jam Session series is partially supported through a gift from the Carolyn Kulkin Fund for Education and Community.

There is a suggested donation of $10 for this event to cover additional expenses.

The Nashville Jazz Workshop has soft drinks available for purchase. All other food and beverages are BYO.

The NJW Jam Session is a community event. Taking place once a month, the popular session is a fertile ground for the large contingent of great jazz players and enthusiasts in Middle Tennessee. Geared for all levels of performers – professionals, serious students of jazz, and those who love to listen, – this jam session is a chance for players to hear each other, meet, and collaborate. The NJW Jam Session is an open forum, so we encourage listeners to ask questions.
