Paula Chavis Live in the Jazz Cave

Popular vocalist Paula Chavis makes her Jazz Cave debut Friday, March 1 at 8pm. She’ll be joined by John Birdsong (bass), Bryan Harrison (piano), and Wendell Henry (drums).

Paula began singing at age four and has continued to sing ever since. Her idols are many and varied – Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, and others. She has synthesized her own style and voice while absorbing influences from many of the great vocalist. Paula was for 33 years a triple career woman – raising three children, teaching first grade for the Metropolitan Nashville School System, and singing and performing on stage and screen. Paula’s singing career has included recording, commercials, dance music, background vocals, and of course jazz, which she performs around town with the John Birdsong Trio. She has also performed with Larry Carlton, The Chi-lites, The Drifters, and Charlie Daniels.

There will be two sets, beginning at 8pm. Tickets will be $25 for adults / $15 high school and college students with ID. They will be available for advance purchase on Monday, February 18 at 10AM. Policies: The Jazz Cave is a BYOB establishment, with no alcohol or food service. You are free to bring alcoholic beverages and snacks. We sell soft drinks and bottled water. The Jazz Cave is a listening room, and we ask patrons to keep conversation to a minimum and silence cell phones. Audio and video recording is prohibited.
