Spotlight Thursday: Josh Karas Presents Herbie & Chick
Join Josh Karas and his incredible band for a special concert celebrating the music of Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea’s legendary fusion groups. They’ll be playing classics and deep cuts spanning the discographies of both bands, music from the Headhunters and Return to Forever!
Come out for high energy jazz fusion featuring complex arrangements, dazzling synth soundscapes, soaring guitar solos, and funky grooves. The band is a collective of some of Nashville’s finest musicians, including Dan Hitchcock (sax/woodwinds), Jonathan Rogerson (guitar), Josh Karas (keyboards), Leland Nelson (bass), Madison George (drums), and Justin Vorp (percussion).

Josh Karas is an exciting up and coming pianist, keyboardist and composer based in Nashville, Tennessee. He recently graduated from Vanderbilt University as the first Jazz Studies major from their award-winning jazz program. Since then, he’s exploded onto the Nashville music scene as an in-demand player for live gigs and studio sessions.
Josh has played alongside local artists such as Don Aliquo, Natasha Blaine, The Sofia Goodman Group, The Hodgepodge, The Ryan Middagh Jazz Orchestra, and The Downtown Band. His own group, The Josh Karas Fusion Band, has gained widespread recognition from the Nashville community, regularly selling out shows at Rudy’s Jazz Room and delivering high-energy, original fusion music.
In 2021, Karas was selected as one of six composers under thirty to have their pieces performed as a part of the 2022 Jazz Education Network Young Composer’s Showcase. His debut album, The Root of the Thing was released in Fall 2021, showcasing his soulful and engaging compositional style.
