Spotlight Thursday: Tudo Bem
Join Tudo Bem in the Jazz Cave for the Spotlight Thursday Series at the Nashville Jazz Workshop on Thursday, January 19th, 2023. The band takes the stage at 7:30pm CST (Doors at 7:00pm).
Tudo Bem (“Everything’s good”) is an ensemble featuring pro Nashville players and singers who share a love of Brazilian music. They cover styles ranging from samba to baião and forro, and from bossa nova to and choro. Tudo Bem’s members include two Grammy winners, Will Barrow on piano, accordion and vocals, and Giovanni Rodriguez on bass and percussion. Accomplished vocalist Crystal Miller, killer guitarist Jerome Degey, and dynamic drummer and percussionist Marcus Finnie round out the ensemble. They invite you to dance and sing along!

Tudo Bem is a five piece Brazilian ensemble based in Nashville, performing a variety of Brazilian styles with unique arrangements and flavor. Styles include samba, bossa nova, baião, choro, forro, funk, and classical music. Band members are brought together by a love of this diverse and rich music, and each brings a unique voice and combination of influences and experiences to the group.
Will Barrow, the group’s founder and leader, is a Grammy award winning pianist, accordionist, vocalist, songwriter and composer who has recorded with an eclectic group of artists, including Tommy Emmanuel, Benny Golson, Gilbert O’Sullivan, Suzy Bogguss, Crystal Gayle and the Gatlin Brothers.
Jerome Degey plays acoustic/electric guitar and cavaquino, and is originally from Paris, France. After being a successful producer and jazzman there, has become an in demand player on the scene here, as a sideman, and with his own group, Caravan Tales. He honed his Brazilian guitar chops while living in Rio, and playing with top players there.
Giovanni Rodriguez, a bassist and percussionist, is the leader of Latin-jazz ensemble Doce Manos, which recently headlined NJW’s Jazzmania show. He’s a fixture on local Latin and R&B gigs, and played on a Grammy winning recording with CeCe Winans.
Crystal Miller, Tudo Bem’s lead singer, is a top Nashville jazz, Latin and Brazilian vocalist, who has taught and performed at NJW, and has a flair for the mother tongue of Brazilian music.
Marcus Finnie (substituting for the group’s regular drummer Chris Brown) is one of the area’s most dynamic, versatile, and in-demand drummers, appearing with artists such as Kirk Whalum, Keb Mo, Taj Mahal, and many others as well as frequent performing and teaching stints at NJW.
Policies: The Jazz Cave is a BYOB establishment, with no alcohol or food service. You are free to bring alcoholic beverages and snacks. We sell soft drinks and bottled water. The Jazz Cave is a listening room, and we ask patrons to keep conversation to a minimum and silence cell phones. Audio and video recording is prohibited. TICKET SALES ARE FINAL. We do not issue refunds. Masks are recommended for all patrons.
Proceeds from Nashville Jazz Workshop Digital Concerts (if streaming) go to the NJW Artist Fund. The Artist Fund is used to help support and create performance opportunities for area Jazz artists, bringing more Jazz to the community and paying artists for their work.
