TJBS Great Albums Concert: Sarah Vaughan “How Long Has This Been Going On” w/ Connye Florance
On Sunday, March 8 at 7pm, our friends at the Tennessee Jazz and Blues Society will present the first Great Albums Concert of 2020. The featured album is Sarah Vaughan’s “How Long Has This Been Going On,” performed by popular Nashville vocalist Connye Florance, with Kevin Madill (piano), Brian Allen (bass), Marcus Finnie (drums), and Mel Deal (guitar).
The album, released in 1978, featured Sarah with an all-star band of Oscar Peterson, Joe Pass, Ray Brown, and Louie Bellson. The album was recorded at San Francisco’s Great American Music Hall and in addition to the tune contains jazz standards such as “Easy Living,” “Body and Soul,” and “I’ve Got The World On A String.”
