Beginner’s Vocal Improvisation with Liz Johnson
MONDAYS, 6-8 PM

Everyone is scared to improvise at first, but what if there is a way to start that's fun and accessible?
Join vocalist/saxophonist Liz Johnson for 3 weeks of beginner friendly improv explorations that will leave you with a smile on your face! Learn about the structure of jazz improvisation while playing with fun exercises aimed at making the prospect of improvisation approachable.
We will use 12-bar blues, "rhythm changes", and other song structures to guide the way. Students will receive practice tracks and homework assignments so they can explore on their own between classes.

Vocal Cohort with Abigail Flowers

Join vocalist Abigail Flowers for a supportive, in-person vocal class focused on active listening, performance, and communal growth. Each week offers an opportunity to take one meaningful step forward in your musical journey—whether you’re a seasoned singer or just beginning. With an emphasis on lifelong learning and consistent progress, this class nurtures vocal development in a collaborative, encouraging environment. All skill levels welcome.

Afro-Caribbean Percussion: Across Genres with Giovanni Rodriguez
THURSDAYS, 6:30-8:30 PM

OCTOBER 9, 16, 23, & 30
Study Afro-Caribbean/Afro-Cuban percussion with multi-instrumentalist and composer Giovanni Rodriguez and see how the distinctive rhythms of Son, Chachacha, Merengue and more can be applied artfully across genres. From salsa to reggaeton, soul or American pop, the vocabulary of Afro-Caribbean rhythms can be used to enhance your musicality in any style. All skill levels welcome.
