The Nashville Jazz Workshop is excited to launch a new series for children and families in the community, Jazz AM. The series of free Saturday morning programs offers a fun, interactive jazz concert for young people featuring music, puppets, improvisation, rhythm, and movement!
The next event is Saturday, August 7, with two shows, 9:30am and 10:45am at the Nashville Jazz Workshop’s facility, 1012 Buchanan Street. The program spotlights the big band music of Duke Ellington!
The program, facilitated by trained professionals and Jazz musicians, will engage students, encourage creativity, promote collaboration, and build musical awareness for children age 2-10 and families.
“The impact of music on children has and will continue to be a profound part of children’s foundation,” says NJW Executive Director, Eric Dilts. “Learning about Jazz impacts childrens’ creativity and musical development even before they learn to play an instrument. We are excited to launch this initiative to the heart of the North Nashville community.”
This is a free event, but tickets are required and seating is limited to 50. You will need a ticket for each adult and child. Tickets may be printed or displayed on your smart phone, and must be shown at the door.
For this indoor event, COVID safety protocols will be followed:
* All children must wear a mask
* Unvaccinated adults are required to wear a mask
* For vaccinated adults, masks are optional
Tickets are available online starting Thursday, July 15 at 9am.
Jazz AM will be hosted at Hadley Park June 5th and July 10th. Social distancing and additional measures will be taken to ensure a fun, safe family friendly event. Starting August 7, the program will move to NJW’s new facility at 1012 Buchanan Street in North Nashville.
